This is the story of a very special little kitten, Laila. Her angel, Julie, found her abandoned, a premature newborn. With her love and devotion, help from vets and orphaned kitten experts, and a lot of vibes and prayers from TCS members, Laila not only survived, but thrived. This is the beginning of her journey. Unfortunately, the rest of the journey, all of the poopie dances and amazing triumphs of will of both Laila and Julie, were lost in the great TCS crash of December 2004.

Laila is 16 days old and 113g. Not the weight I was hoping for, but as
long as she's not losing weight, I'm not concerned. She hasn't had a BM
since the other day, but I'm allowing myself 2 days before I start to
worry.
What's really sad is that she's lonely.
I try to keep her with me as much as possible, but the times that she's
alone in her nest, she lets me know how lonely she really is. She
doesn't cry when I put her in, but she makes these little complaining
sounds. Weak little sounds. Sleepy cries.
It's so heartbreaking to hear them. Once I pick her up, she stops. I wish I could hold her all the time, but that's not possible.
I was thinking of adopting another kitten, just so that she has someone to cuddle with.
The problem is that all the kittens are big, about 6 weeks old. Do you
think it would be a good idea to bring in a bigger kitten? Would they
be able to sleep together or would the bigger kitten hurt her while
trying to play?
Here's a picture of little Laila cuddling with her stuffed toys (her make-believe brother and sister).
She's so lonely. My poor baby!

OH NO! I can't see Laila's picture! I have been so excited to see new
pictures of her! Maybe it's just my computer. I'm so glad she is doing
better. I'm not sure how another kitten would act with her...i'm no
expert. Poor Laila, though--- no one likes to be lonely! Bless her
heart!
Let us know what you end up doing!

Nope, it's not your computer.
I don't see Laila's picture either.
I would think it's a little dangerous to get an older kitten at this
point because Laila is so small. Maybe when she gets a little older?
Laila is 17 days old today and 121g. My little girl is getting bigger!!!
We had to go to the vet again for another enema. Poor little thing!
She was doing so well this week. I thought we were on the right track.
She had 2 BM's without a problem, but then she went for 3 days without
one. She started looking bloated again, so I took her to the vet. The
nice vet was there again, and he's so gentle with her. He likes her a
lot!
The vet who gave her the first enema was really rough with her and hurt her tail a little. She would cry when I'd touch it. The next day she stopped the crying, so I think it wasn't anything serious.
Now I call the vet station and check to see if the nice vet is there before taking her in.
The good news is that her eyes will open soon. One of her eyes already started to open.
I'm so excited. I can't wait to see them.
Thank you all for following up on my sweet little Laila!
I
would pouch her, this way she can stay with you all the time and no one
has to know she is there. I wear this pouch under my shirt and the
kitten goes travels with me. It is so easy to make a pouch for them,
all you need is some sort of cloth sack, (I use a pillow casing) and
some cord. Make the bag so it hangs right over your heart, cut the
rope, fold the ends of the bag over the rope, do a quick running stitch
to keep it in place, and then put soft towels or rags at the bottom.
Place the kitten there, put the bag around your neck and shoulder, put
on a big floppy shirt, and button her up. She is so tiny, no one will
even know she is there. Your heartbeat will calm her, and they bond to
you in such a unique way when you wear them like that- I even did this
when it was snowing outside, the kitten just slept through it all
warmed by my body heat and the multiple clothes I had on so I wouldn't
get cold. You want to leave her breathing space, but it can be done-
