The blue paw on some of the photos denotes an Extra Special Rescue.  These stories are from people called to give a tiny days old kitten, special needs or injured cat a home for life.  These cats and kittens surely wouldn’t have had a chance at living, let alone a happy life of luxury, had it not been for these people.
